Hi fellow Revit'ers

I spend almost all my day by creating crane family that is able to rotate 180° and lets the user set the position of the crane.
I haven't been doing a lot of families that can rotate but it has been a pain in the ....

I would be glad if someone could get me feedback.

I finished the family but i still have 2 problems:
it is not visible in any floor plan view in my project and i don't know if the problem is in the family or in the project view settings.
when i load it into the project it slightly goes into the wall an i do not get why.

the family consits of "SA_Crane_Part001" this is the part will rotate.
It was created with the "generic model - face based template"

"SA_Crane_Part001" is nested inside the actual "SA_Crane_rotatable" family which is a wall based family.
inside the host family i created a reference line with an angle dimension attached to a parametere.

then i loaded the "SA_Crane_Part001" family and set it on the horizontal plane of the reference line.

pease help, i do not get the revit logic - " if there is any"

thanks,

Jeff

Your crane in a project is in phase 3 while plan view shows phase 1 - change to phase 3.

You have to create a reference plane at the front of mounting elements  and put a dimension constrain between that ref line and the 'wall inner face' ref line with a value equal to the thickness of a plate, align and lock 'wall inner face' ref line with the face of a wall.

Revit add-ins: CAD Purger (delete UNUSED and selected line patterns & line styles, find and delete CAD), Rooms To Spaces, Schedule Utilities (Calculated Values/Combined Parameters To Tags, reuse view filter rules in schedule filters), View Filter Manager at Revit Apps Store

hi mkasen,

i left the office totally frustrated thinking that i will never understand revit....
now in the train, reading your comment put a smile on my face 😃
the first one was pretty bad ( but still not the first time that i make the phase mistake)
the second one: i thought that i did that, but i will check tomorrow morning.

i will document the process for other newbies and you will get some kudos.

thanks for saving the day 😃
