Nested family in window not cutting as expected when loaded in project

Hello,

I am currently working on a project with numerous amounts of window types which I have duplicated from an existing phase and renumbered/description changed for a historical building reform. In order to reduce some of the detailing work I am trying to correct the way these windows are sectioned in the legend plan view to have a more accurate construction documentation off the bat. However I have found nested families inside of some of the windows are not sectioning correctly. I have already done the following:

1. corrected the cut plane inside both the family and the nested family.

2. Turned on the "shared" category both in the family and the nested family (per a revit article linked below).

3. Also turned "cut voids when loaded" even though this shouldn't be the case.

4. Made sure the family is under category "windows". I have also tried the nested family in both "window" and "generic family". I would like to avoid placing the original family under any other category that isn't window.

3. Tried all different detail levels.

4. Tried different view range conbinations and far clippings even though this again shouldn't be the case. Curiously nothing changed, meaning the view range is overridden in the project for some unknown reason.

Frustratingly enough, when I highlight the family in the legend view I can see the rest of the family underneath, and when I turn on wireframe I can see the elements that I am trying to show, meaning for some reason the view range is overriden and the family is cutting at a higher level than programmed.

I have attached a copy of the windows in a new project. To the left a fully modeled window behaving as expected, to the right the window with nested elements behaving incorrectly.

Lastly, I understand I can hide the 3D elements and draw detail lines, I am trying to evade this. I am also trying to evade using wireframe as a final display, since it obfuscates the front view of windows also present in the same legend.

Thank you for your time, hopefully chad @ToanDN or others will come to my rescue.

I believe the problem lies with these two pieces above.

If you turn them off in Plan/RCP it fixes the problem for me in the example file you provided.

this worked for this specific type of window, I'm trying to hide some elements in plan/RCP in other families as well and it seems to be working, but the underlying problem I see is that the window doesn't behave as expected when it has nested families inside of it, even if they are shared, and that makes it unpredictable. For some reason it projects elements modeled inside the family in overhead plan instead of the predetermined family section view. Hiding them is a workaround.

I will try to make your solution work, but I guess the cleanest overall workflow would be to draw 2D details and hide all 3D elements of the window.

Thank you for your time!

I have experienced this as well in some window families and have had to resort to the age old "hide 3D and show 2D components."
