Hello, I have created a family of a walk-in cooler and can't figure out how to add a parameter that will let me locate the door along one side. I would like an option to locate the door from one side of the cooler to either the center or edge of the door. I thought it was going to be easy, but I am struggling with it. Any help would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks, Aaron I have attached the family for your use.

Make the the job easier by splitting the task in 'segments'. I would make use of nested families. For example the door would be a good example to be created in a nested family. In the nested family you create the door with all the dimensions and ironmongery. In the host family you can position it properly.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
Aaron - here is the modified family.
When you have two reference planes that have the property Defines Origin, that will be your insertion point
Rina, thanks for helping me out, but I do not see anything different with the family you attached. I must be missing something. Also, my client is using Revit 2016, so I can't use a later version family.
Maybe that's because 2017 crashed!
Tested - insertion point is in the middle of the back wall.
Rina, I apologize if I am not getting your revised family, but I can not see how there is an option (parameter) to place the door at a specified distance. The 2016 version is good though... I need more help. Thanks.
Door at a specified distance from? I am setting up a parameter for saetting it away from the side.
My apologies - I am on 2016 and 2017 at the same time. Hence the madness.
You should be able to type in the distance from the side that the door needs to be placed at.
Rina, I need a parameter that will allow me to position the door along the wall at any given distance from either end of the wall.
