Need Help: Welded Connection for C-Profile Steel Columns to Slanted C-Profile Beam in Revit

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project where I need to connect multiple C-profile steel columns to a single slanted C-profile beam. The connection should be modeled as welded to match real-life requirements, so I’d like to avoid using any clipping methods.

I’m finding it a bit challenging to get this right. If anyone could share guidance or a video tutorial, it would help a lot to clarify the process.

I’ve attached the Revit file for your reference—please feel free to take a look and share any advice.

After reviewing the Revit Model there are a few comments that I have that you may want to consider. THE IMAGES BELOW ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS AND REFERENCES

  1. First lets address the columns punching thru the bottom flanges of your sloped beam.  Currently you have them modeled as structural columns. You mentioned you did not want to “cut” any of these columns. So, If you wish to keep them as columns then you could consider attaching the tops to the sloped beam. All of these "little, short columns" and all your columns are currently not on grid intersections. I would recommend you model first Levels then Grids then columns then beams. The beams and columns should show as intended. ( for example the girder offset from the supporting column)  and your columns would be at grid intersections.
  2. I would encourage you to consider also looking into modeling those “little, short columns as structural beam elements. Like the vertical elements in a truss. This would allow you to extend the beam tops to the sloped beam above and it would also allow you to miter the sloped beam end.
  3. You have structural “connection” system families modeled at most beam to column intersections. If you do not plan on adding actual “connections” meaning plates and bolts then you may consider removing them. adding Connections at Miters and girders  shown “offset” from its supporting columns are not necessary if you follow items 1 and 2 above. Good luck. Just some things to consider as you model structure in Revit.

I got the big picture of what are you trying to say, and I think this is the best solution, thank you for the lesson you taught me.
But I'm having a hard time following up step by step, can you please show me a quick recorded video for all of those steps?
