Hello,
We are having trouble linking CAD or Navisworks into our REVIT model that is currently hosted on BIM 360. From the screenshots, this is what we see on the left sidebar as options when: 1) Opening a REVIT file in BIM 360, 2) Linking a REVIT file into the projects, and 3) Linking a CAD/NWD file into the project.
It seems as though the file path when linking the CAD still goes through the "c:\user\BIM360\filename" instead of just strictly "BIM360\filename" like it does for REVIT. This causes issues when other users try to use the file, the CAD links are unloaded or broken for them since they are not the original user to establish the link.
Is there anyway to resolve this?
Thank you,
JD
You have to upload to BIM 360 through the Desktop Connector if you want to share them with outside users.
https://info.bim360.autodesk.com/desktop-connector
Once installed and you are logged in you should be able to see the project directory and copy the files over.
The Autdodesk Desktop Connect is already installed. Those screen caps are what the user sees when trying to link the files, with the connector it still routes through "c:\user\BIM360".
Oh...gotcha...
Go to the folder with the CAD files through the BIM 360 Connector. Drag that folder to the desktop which creates a shortcut. When you have the BIM 360 project open in Revit, link the CAD file by going to the desktop and click the shortcut and you should see your CAD and Navis files.
It is a funky way to access it...but that is how I finally got it to work since seek mapped drives is disabled on my workstation.
