Need Help adding a LF Parameter to an LED Strip Family

I am attempting to create a parameter for the LED Strip Family which can put the LF taken from the two length parameters I created, Room Width and Room Length. I then want to be able to put that LF information into the main lighting schedule for the house.

I did some looking around and was unable to find something that can achieve this. Has anyone here done this before or are they able to point me in the right direction. I may just be looking at this the wrong way.

I attached the family incase anyone wants to see what that looks like and what I have set up so far.

Room Width and Room Length must be Shared parameters.  Yours are not.

After changing those two to shared parameters, you can add a Calculated value Length parameter (name it LF) to the schedule and use the formula below and it should report the LF of each instance.

2* (Room Width + Room Length).

Attached is the revised family and an example schedule in a project.

Perimeter Length should be a shared parameter if you want to schedule it...Add that to the Family and set a formula = 2*(Length + Width)

Alternatively... Make the length and width shared parameters (basically if you want these scheduled) and instead of setting up the total length in the family,

  1. In the project, Edit the fields of the schedule and add a calculated value straight into the schedule use same formula as above

Both of you guys are awesome and it made much more sense seeing it broken down.

I'll hopefully get this family creation thing down.

Much appreciated.
