Mysterious random cuts in wall

Anonymous

Hi guys,

Has anyone had this problem with random cuts in wall? It seemed like Revit is remembering a model in-place that has been deleted. The (deleted) model in-place had void sweep and extrusions. Yet, although it has been deleted, whenever I put a wall in those locations (as shown below), random cuts automatically appear.

Even if I delete all model in-place (including the new ones), the random cuts remained in the wall.

Please help! Thank you, legends!!!

did you try to do this inside the new wall component it self.

may be the void is nested in the component.

Yea - I have tried that too! I have also hover over both the wall and model in-place component in 'reveal hidden elements mode'. Still could not find out what or why is this happening :(((

Select the wall, cut and paste in place.

The cuts are still there 😞

If I move the whole building away, the cuts disappear. But when I move the building back, the cuts came back :((((

Create a generic model schedule to find that piece and delete it from the schedule.

If you are able to delete those cuts then its good..

else try

If you can get the mass " model in place" from any of your backup files, then you can correct it and try to use.

Also

If you really need a clean drawings, then its better to create a new mass and recreate walls.

that way there wont be any  surprises in the future to worry about..

Good advice. I tried the first option - doesn't work. Looks like I will need to start the project from scratch again, just so that there will be no more random cuts :((( Good thing this happened at the early stage.

Thank you all!!!!

Care to share the file?

Guys,

You wouldn't believe this. I was cleaning up the file so that I can upload it for ToanDN to have a look and I realized that there is a workset that has been turned off (which contains walls that were creating all those random cuts). Someone must have forgotten to deleted that workset.

Anyway, thank you ToanDN for offering to have a look! Otherwise, I wouldn't have known about the workset if I had not purge/clean things.

Have a great day!!!

Almost, this cut came from another wall mounted family provided with void cut, this family maybe it is hidden in the view, or something goes wrong, check the hidden elements, or visibility graphic to unhide it, so you will be able to delete it.

I hope it helps

If this solved the problem, please mark my comment as an accepted solution.

regards,

Try switching between phases in 3d view and see if the wall is attached to an existing ceiling/floor that was demolished later. Detach the wall from that ceiling/floor.
