My Revit LT 2014 has gone wonky: Nothing stays in place. Driving me Crazy! Help!

Should I try a re-install?  It had been working fine for all these years and just started randomly moving walls and objects whenever I zoomed out or to another location.

Thank you for the question @Anonymous, and welcome to the Autodesk forums!

If this behavior is specific to a particular project(s):

I’ve seen behavior like you are describing when the extents of a model exceed the 20 mile limit.

Sometimes this happens when linking in other files (like DWGs). If you have links loaded, try unloading these.

Try going through the following steps:

  1. Turn on the visibility of the Project Base Point.
  2. Make sure that the geometry in the project is near the PBP.
  3. Unload any linked files (RVT, DWG, etc.)
  4. Reveal Hidden Elements.
  5. Use the Zoom to Fit command.
  6. If the geometry disappears, this confirms that there are elements far from the ones at the PBP.
    1. Use a crossing selection windowv (from Right to Left), select from the far right to the top so that the window does not include the Project Base Point.
    2. If elements are selected, identify if they are far from the rest of the geometry, and either move them closer or delete them.
    3. Now that items on the right side have been cleared, go through similar steps for the top, left and bottom portions of the view (selecting everything from the drawing area edge to where you can see the PBP).
    4. Now Zoom to Fit again, and confirm that the geometry around the PBP is displayed (meaning that the elements far away have been cleared).
    5. Turn off the Reveal Hidden Elements mode.

I also found this forum thread with a different option/workaround: Revit 2018; 3D View jumps around, and wont zoom

Been exploding any CAD lately?  Bet you $10 that you got CAD elements in a galaxy far, far away from the Internal Origin (e.g. more than 10 miles away).
