My revit central model is gone without a trace

Hello all;

Recently I made a local revit file into a central model. No big deal... I made a bunch of changes on Sunday and Monday to this file.  Like 5 hours of work I’m talking about. Later on, a coworker moved the project from one server (for a different city) to our local file for our office since we’re the only ones working on the project.  I went to open the project on Friday and it is not there at all. It is not found in the previous server location either. I called our IT guy and he did some searching for me but ALL he could find was the saved file from the Friday before all changes were made; also before the file was made a central model.

Anyone have any idea why this happened? Was it because the central file was moved? I thought when that happened you would get an error message when opening, but the file would still be visible at least!

If there is any way I can recover the work I put into it, that would be amazing. If not I guess I’ll be doing some repeat work!

Probably something got overwritten during the process. If so I do not see a way to get it back

No backups available at your company? If not, it looks some rework neeeds to be done

Something happened when your coworker "moved" the file. They should have saved the project as a central model on the destination server and left the original in place until the "move" was verified.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Our IT guy found all that he could for me but it was not recent enough so I ended up redoing my changes.  I will have to pass along any info on this topic to others in the office so we can avoid another mishap down the road!

That totally makes sense.  I wish I would have thought of the repercussions before it was relocated... but lesson learned for next time!
