My Computer Lags as soon as other user opens Revit

This is hard to describe but I will do my best.

We have multiple users and multiple computers on our network. When all users but 1 are using Revit or any other program, my computer is fine. As soon as 1 specific user opens Revit on his computer, my computer immediately starts to lag and jump around. It doesn't even matter if I have Revit open or not... I am associating it to Revit because when he opens the program, that's when this starts...

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks!

What is the nature of your network? I ask because I've run into small offices that share files from a person's computer, not a real server, and have seen something similar.

We are running a small server to a switch and then out to the computers. We
have 5 computers on the network and my computer is the only one that is
affected by this other computer being in Revit. If this other computer is
out of Revit, mine is fine, as soon as Revit is opened (not even opening a
file, just open) then my computer bogs down... Super weird

Are you running a Windows Server operating system? If not then the peer to peer support for multiple computers is not effective or supported beyond 5 computers (IRCC). If you are mixing Operating System versions you're also running a risky configuration. For example, OS Win 7 and Win 10 installed on various computers. The way that memory and data is passed between PC's is different and worst case can corrupt Revit files.

Thanks for responding. We are using Microsoft Server Os and each of the
computers has the same version of Windows, so I don't think that would be a
problem.

Are any shared resources mapped to your PC instead of the server? For example, if you've shared a drive on your PC and the other computers access it then their activity can influence you pc's performance. If Revit is looking for a keynote file or linked file is actually on your PC then other sessions of Revit could spend time hunting for your PC for that resource before giving up. Is it possible that a central file was created on a local PC instead of the server? Also do you store your local files on your own PC (normal/recommended) versus saving them to the server?

We have been very careful to store all of our Central Models, and any
shared families and files on the Server.
Yes, the local file is saved onto each computer's C Drive so I don't think
that would be a problem.

What do you think it is?

If it is tied to that person's PC and Revit then it ought not to affect only your PC...the others should suffer as well. Unless your computer is tethered in some fashion. Have you had any IT consulting take a closer look?
