I'm doing a multi unit housing project with a number of nested linked files. There are several typical interiors that are mirrored and duplicated into several unit exterior shells, and the shells are assembled into different duplex and triplex buildings.
Typical file structure looks something like this: interior file->unit file->building file. The documents are produced from the building file.
I would like to be able to tag and element in a lower nested level, have that tag show up in the higher level file via linked view, and add add designation to the tag in the higher level. Example: say I create a room in the unit file, with the number "100 (x)". Then in the building file I would like to have it show up as "100 W" and "100 E" to indicate that the room is in either the west or east side of the duplex.
Is this possible? I have experimented a bit with shared parameters to try and achieve this with no success.
Maybe I don't quite follow---
-Do you have Rooms in all of the Units? If so, can you just use Room Tags?
-Also, search around about Links -vs- Groups in MF Housing projects. Groups ( if created correctly!!!!! ) are the preferred method. Linked files are going to create a lot of problems.
I don't know, but it almost sounds like you're describing tagging "Room Aware" families.
