Must be a really silly question but when I draw a curtain wall I only have a choice of the 25mm round mullion. I can see other profile tabs in the families section in the project browser but only Circular Mullion has the + symbol where the 25mm version is. I have looked in the UK folder of my families ( load family ) but there doesn't seem to be anything under Curtain wall. So where is it!!!
This may be helpful.
Thanks but that doesn't really help as those tabs do not have the `+` button so I cannot get access to the pre-made mullions.
Go to the Insert tab on the tool ribbon and click on the Load Family tool.
Find the mullions you want and load them in.
Or...
If as you say you can already see the families in the Project Browser, but they don't have the little + sign next to them, then they don't have any Types created. Right click on the Family there, Edit it, and create some types with different dimension parameter values. Once some Types are created, you should get the little + next to the Family in the Project Browser so that you can expand it and see the Types listed underneath it.
Thanks but where are the standard mullions located, not under my curtain wall family when I click load family. Surely there is more than just the 25mm round ones as a standard?
You will need to right click and create mullions per the parameters that you need. Which is why we never purge Curtain Wall Mullions.
So curtain wall mullions are kind of a...well....PITA...
You have to load the "Mullion profile" into your project. Then you have to create a new type from within the project by right clicking the type in the project browser and "New Type". Go into the type properties you just created and you can change the profile, the offset, its position and materials, etc... You can also create new types without a profile and they are just generic circles or rectangles and you modify the dimensions in the type.
Another option is to download preconfigured curtain walls from BimObject (formerly Autodesk Seek) http://bimobject.com/en-us/product?freetext=curtain%20walls and copy paste the curtain wall from one project to yours (or use transfer project standards) and you don't have to worry about manually creating the mullion types.
HTH..
Mullions are profiles. The standard ones - the ones that ship with the Revit libraries - are located in the Profiles folder.
