Good morning. I am new to Revit. I am getting the hang of modeling, and right now that is windows.
What I need to learn in how to make the number of mullions and lites parametric in a window family. I plan to create a window pallete of the basic types of windows and load that into my template. Revit includes some stock, but I need them with and without trim. I know how to do the trim and get it parametric, and I am not too worried about it because I can take a trimmed window and just give the trim a value of 1/16", which is close enough. (I know, in BIM there shouldn't be "close enough" ![]()
What I need is to design windows with parametric mullions, both in number, orientation, and size. My research indicates I should do this with the array tool, and I have been able to make the mullions parametric to window size (they all space evenly) but I need a parameter in my properties for the window that lets me specify how many vertical and horizontal lites. If I can get this for one window I can reproduce it for each type, slider, awening, casement, ect.
Appreciate your help! you guys are great.
My suggestion is to go to one of the window manufacture's websites, such as Marvin.com or Pella.com; download their Revit Families and examine how they are built. This should provide you all the information you need to build your own stellar windows.
