Move topo down or move model up?

Hi Folks,

I have been modelling & documenting my first official job in Revit. The model is a fair way along and we have only just received the site survey and I have since modelled to topography with the survey file.

The topo is coming out around 193m above my model as this is the actual topo's true elevation. My model has been done at 0 elevation.

I'm wondering what is the best practice to bring the 2 together. Is the easier method to move the topo down a determined amount (example 193.1m so as floor level of building is 100mm above the topo) or should I be moving the model/annotations/detail lines etc up to its true elevation at the topo?

I'm sure this is a common occurrence in the design flow for many people when using Revit

Any suggestions of advice greatly appreciate

Dale

If you want to keep the topo and the building in the same file then I would move the topo and the Survey Point down the same distance.  Then if you need to annotate the contour elevations just set the elevation base to Survey point.

The only hiccup with this is if you need to edit the topo again, you would have to move it up first, or do some math to calculate points elevation.  Neither are a big deal.
