move entire building on xy-axis in Revit

Exterior wall thickness changed in the project and now I should move the building so that it is again aligned with the site border. Of course all the appartment-groups and 2d-items on floorplans should be moved as well. Surprisingly it seems that there's no easy solution available but I still think these kind of situations occur quite often with models.

Thanks for any help.

You can try these:

  1. Mark a reference Point on the site . Select the toposurface and the terrain borders , pads (optional make them a group) and move them to fit the new relative position from the building model. Then Relocate the entire project to the previous position (the Marked Reference point).
  2. Select all the terrain items , and make them a Group. Then turn group into a Link (LG) . Use Overlay. Publish coordinates to the linked file.  Open the terrain file and link (attached ) the building file into it. Move the linked Building file to the desired position and publish its coordinate. Looks cumbersome....But if you do it from the beginning it will be fine : Make two different files: one for the terrain and another for the building . In the terrain file link then the Building file . You will be able to move freely the building onto the terrain. Finally you'll be able to  publish building's coordinates from terrain to the original file.

Thanks for your reply. What if I have three buildings on the site, which each should be moved to different directions and I also should have each building in same file afterwards in order to get quantities and areas out from the project.

Normally the Elements from Links can be included in Schedules- so I don't see any problem here.

Anyway you can use Bind Link option to cut off the link and include it into the host file - at a last stage of work.

and the Bind option:

Great, this sounds promising. I'll try that. Thanks a lot!

I tried linking and binding (bind link) with one building but there was error "Unable to bind the selected links." One option would be to carry on with links, but the synchronization for apartment-groups between different buildings would be lost, right?
