Hi. I have completed many projects on high rise multi-occupancy buildings, through to construction.
We are embarking on some low rise houses now and I am looking for some tip on how you would model pitched roofs and rainwater goods.
Do you model a single roof including the rafter zone or separate the truss from the roof finishes ? I doubt our structural engineer will model the trusses.
And lastly, do you model all gutters and downpipes as the architect ? Thanks

Core = Truss (Structural) = Separate Roof Type from Roof Type(s) representing finish materials .
...and "Truss" Roof Types for top and bottom chords only.
...Gutter and downspout planning is not within the purview of the Structural Engineer in my neck of the woods.
...one last thing - you say: "I doubt our structural engineer will model the trusses". We don't model the individual trusses either - unless that information is critical to the design. We model Truss LAYER using a Roof Type - same way we model Stud Walls.
Really helpful, thank you. On the gutter and downpipes, I meant do architects model these with offsets etc. Or just locate on plan with a symbol ?
Model them. It's a BIM World. Model the structure in Revit the way it will be built in the REAL World.
hey, i am also working on the models in las vegas. if you want any information and detail. visit it.It's a powerful method for focusing on powerhouses with clear informing and inside the channels where they invest the most energy.
