Hello, I'm a new member and a new user of the program that I need to use for my master thesis regarding the study of an historical building in Revit.
I'm having some issues to understand how to model a window family starting from the dwg that I made and you can see in the pictures.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance ![]()

First question is do it need to be parametric? If not, you can simply create extrude the window profile and then apply material.
Thanks for your answer. In the building there are only two types of windows, one is like the picture I updated earlier and the other is basically two mini versions of the window placed next to each other.
I tried with the extrusion but when I go place it into the wall it doesn't appear in plan view, so I was thinking that maybe I did something wrong in the process of modelling
Window is affected by cut. So if your window is placed 5' above the floor elevation, the cut won't show the window. So you may want to use the plan region and set the cut plane to higher. If Revit cut thru top arc, it will show up as very weird cut. So you can overcome this using symbolic line and masking region built into the family.
Thank you very much
Last question: is there a way to put the dwg in foreground?
Certainly. First when you link in CAD, you want to set to current view
Once you link in the file, you have the ability to set the CAD as foreground or background
