modeling body of water (2017)

I am trying to model a body of water that is a pond or small man-made lake. I have regraded the topography now I need to fill the void. anyone have a suggestion?

Easiest - model a floor with the outline of the topography as sketch. Apply Glass material.

You might want to draw the line at adding boats and fishies.....

that could work. right now we are in the master planning stage and we will probably want a site section through the pond. I was hoping to get the pond to follow the contours of the topo that are for the pond as close as possible

That might be possible using Masses. But would possibly generate a solid that would be much much too complex to be worth it.

I would recommend 'faking it' in the sections. Model the Floor using the Pick Lines option in the Sketch environment to generate a footprint that follows the topo closely.

Create a new Floor type that has a negligible thickness with a Glass material applied to it.

In section, all you will see will be a thin line showing the top of the water. That's all you will need. No one will know it isn't a solid except for you. For renderings you can go overboard with applying a Glass material with reflections (again, not recommended unless it's a model meant exclusively for renderings!) and bump maps LOL!!!

This link seems to be broken.  Can someone provide an updated link?

Try search the Autodesk University website for the course numbered AB3340 called "Make Hardscape Follow Site Topography and Site Topography Follow Hardscape in Revit" if the link following link doesn't work: https://www.autodesk.com/autodesk-university/class/Make-Hardscape-Follow-Site-Topography-and-Site-To...

Maybe it "dried up" over the years. Could be due to climate change. Dunno.
