What do you mean by foreground exactly. A link is technically neither in the background nor the foreground. It is where is it with respect to the architectural model elements. If a column is inside the wall it, it’s inside the wall and concealed by it.
Foreground/background is a 2D approach. That said, you can use that same approach on sheets.
1. Place an architectural view on sheet first
2 overlay a structural view on top of it
