Try to create a generic model using sweep . The red line is the path and but the model is offset from the path instead of stays along the path? How should I position the profile to make the object overlap with the path line? Thanks

I think I would give you the same suggestion as I gave to this member:
Why is this sweep through 3d edges varying so much? - Autodesk Community - Revit Products
By moving the profile down and I am able to fix this. The tricky thing is while edit the profile, there is the red dot which is the intersection of the two reference planes, I assume that dot is on the path, so have to move the profile down to overlap with the dot, what misled me is I use the reference plane which is in the background.
As I pointed out to the OP in that thread I referred you to above, change your Horizontal Profile Offset and/or Vertical Profile Offset.
In my case, since the profile is by sketch, the offset setting is already 0 and grayed out, all I could do is to move the sketched profile manually. Thank you for sharing the thread, it will help me whenever working with non sketched profile.
The issue you are having is that you are trying to sketch the profile in a view that is not perpendicular to the path line that is hosting the profile.
You have 2 options,
1) draw a section (shown in blue in image) that is perpendicular to the path and sketch the profile in that view. or,
2) change the path line to one of the horizontal lines so that the current view you are using is now perpendicular by deleting and redrawing the line highlighted in green in the image. Deleting the line will shift the host to one of the adjacent lines, both of which are horizontal.
FWIW: Almost always the way I do it is to sketch the path and then change the Orientation Plane to "Profile Plane" on which I sketch my Profile.
...couple of more:
Yeah thats probably the easiest way. I'm currently not at my computer with revit so couldn't do screenshots so I figured the section sketch was easiest to describe.
