Can you set the model in place material to Structural Material by default?

I.e. so that I control the material by editing type under the model in place properties

If you use Structure > Model > Component > Model in Place and then choose a Structural category, such as Structural Foundations, you are able to both set the Material for Model Behavior in the properties pallet as well as set the actual Material in the Family Types editor.

Thanks for your reply @chrisplyler

For a model in place, I just wondered if I could set the material to the 'Structural Material' under the type properties automatically, rather than having to select it each time.

You're trying to change the material property of an extrusion that you've created inside the in-place component. Instead, change the properties of the family itself and of a Type that you create within it, before you even start modeling.

Thanks for your replies but it doesn't answer my question.

I know how to set a material from within a Model in place but what I'd like to know is if you can opt for every Model in place to have the material set to the parameter 'Structural Material' by DEFAULT i.e. if the material ever needs changing after the model in place has been created, you can do this under properties rather than opening the model in place to edit it.

No it is not possible. You have to select any Structural category while creating object or edit existing object and change family category onto Structural one
