Model-in-place making rounded object

I am trying to draw a treatment bench using model-in-place. I am not yet very experienced using the sweep/revolve/blend tool, so I hope I can get some pointers. How do I create this rounded thing, marked in red?

And also, I use work planes a lot when modeling, but of course, I know this is not possible on rounded or curved objects. So how would I go about making a work plane on a round surface, or how do I work my way around this (no puns intented, lol), when I can't align it or lock it in place?

I am currently modeling using a family template.

Sweep worked, thank you!

Any tips on how I can continue drawing it, when I can't use the rounded shape as a work plane or align and lock it to a reference line?

Are you doing this for fun or for work?  There are families from manufacturers begging to be downloaded and used.  And, if you are doing for fun, it is the last thing you want to model in place and not a family.

I want to learn how to do it myself, but this bench and a round chair on wheels is something I need for work. So trying to figure out how. Do you have any better suggestions as to how I can make them?
