Model group issue after upgrading from 2017 to 2019

Hi guys,

I upgraded my revit model from 2017 to 2019 and had two major issues in the model groups below:

1. The model groups had an error message saying there are "legend component" which can not be grouped, and give me the option to delete them from the group, but after I choose to delete, it says I need to fix the group which means ungroup or generates different versions of the current group I have.

I found the post below here, it seems like it is because I created a new type of wall or sth, that generates a legend to be grouped into this model group, which 2017 Revit doesn't have an issue with it at all. I went ahead ungroup it and regroup it which works. But I still want to ask around if anyone has other solutions for this issue because my model is already in the CD stage, it is kind of annoying to switch group and re-dimension. Again, I do not have this issue with Revit 2017 for two years, I don't know if that is because the software program changed so the model group now doesn't accept this hidden background legend component in the group. I can follow the correct group modeling steps from now on, but how do I know if there are more hidden elements in the group which may not be accepted again in the future?

2. I had the same group in the center of each triangle unit as shown in blue here, and the original group was made on the left side, and then we copied paste this group to the other two triangles. After the upgrade, the sink family in the other groups still somehow referencing the original group located in the first one on the left. So when I click the group, the dash outline of the group is showing there is something in the group going all the way to the left side, which is not true. This issue applies to all of the groups which contain sink families. I tried to save the group as a new project and regroup it in the new model which looks fine, and after copy it back to the old model, it shows up like this again. So I guess, the sink family may have an issue after the upgrade? Or it is an issue with copy paste groups? I create a new sink family and add it to the group and tried to mirror the group or copy paste the group to a new location and it works well. However... Because, I still don't know what is the true cause for this issue, I'm very worried about if the same issue will happen again later or in the next model upgrade (our project will last for years). So, anyone who has this issue and has solutions? Any inputs will be helpful.

Thanks!

Unfortunately many of the families that contain arcs, curves, splines, joints, etc inside groups tend to be difficult on upgrade situations. When we get to a stage of the project similar to where you are now, we tend to ungroup the model groups that have issues and re-group them in them after the upgrade. It is best practice to avoid the "Fix Groups" button. In some cases, we will set larger portions of the project as separate revit links so that issues regarding upgrades can be managed on a smaller scale and we can avoid groups all together.

Thanks! I did re-group them in the upgraded model. But I have another project under CD now and is going to be approved soon, so I have to ungroup the model groups if I need to make any changes, and also lessons learned from this upgrade, I will fix those families before the upgrade I think. Good news is Autodesk told me they are investigating the "legend component" issue. Hopefully, there is a way to fix it soon!
