Missing Material in Type Properties

Hello guys!

Sorry but I'm in truble with this little Type Properties stuff... I imported a Railing Family to use it in my project but when i tried to chande the material from "Type Properties" it is missing (like it's clear in the immage).

Do you have any advice ?

Thanks

Doesn't have a Material Parameter assigned to it. Open the Family, select the elements and associate the element's Material Parameter under its Properties to a Family Type Parameter. You can associate and create a Material Parameter in the same operation.

Materials for railing are defined in its components: balusters, rails, top rail, and handrail. You can tab over each component of the railing, edit type and access the material.

i thought it too, but i don't know where the family is... It was a file with like 40 kind of railings together... There is a way to open it form the project browser?

Sure. Find it in the Project Browser, right-click on it and press Edit Family.

"Baluster_02" under Railing Category. Right-click on the Family Name, not the Type Name.

Looks like Baluster_02 is a Rail System that uses the Baluster you want to change. You need to go into the Rail Properties and see what Baluster it is using under Edit Baluster Placement.

Doesn't appear to have been created in Revit.  Where did you get this anyways?

You could recreate it in Revit in a Baluster Template. It wouldn't be terribly difficult.  Couple of extrusions is about it.

Yeah it coul be a solution, i didn't think to do that because i'm not really good with railings , but it seems the only way so i will do it! Thanks a lot!

Anyway i downloaded that family from this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_HiAZEAzmo&t=312s&ab_channel=PtsCADExpert

Here's a quickie Baluster Family (2021) with Material Parameter. Exactly like the one in your Project.  You can edit the geometries to remove the holes if you don't want them in the Baluster.
