hi there im quiet new to this, I have managed to overlay a couple of models in revit, I then want to convert to IFC but when I do so I don't get all the items, as youll see in images I have revit with all structural steel and a wall we are building, which is the 2 models when I convert to IFC I only seem to have the steel wall and not the linked model how would I go about doing this.
Befor export, try to go to Modify setup ... -> Additional Content -> Export linked files as separate IFCs.
Check if this works for you
hi,
tried that and just loaded the linked file separate so still not combined
I'm not sure if this is a right way, but if I export my file to IFC i follow these steps:
- Create a 3D view that includes entire project.
- Make sure that every workset I want in IFC is visible on that view
- Go to export IFC tools and set "export only current view"
That works for me, but i'm still not sure if it contains linked files.
I believe your problem is described here in more detail:
To export the full model:
- Open the current host model and use Save As to make a copy of it.
- In the copied file, select each link and choose to Bind it to the host model.
- Export the full RVT model.
Note: In order to avoid issues with binding a linked model do the following:
- Audit + Purge the model and try to investigate and clean all warnings in that before actually starting the binding process.
- Export all warnings during the binding process. This will allow you to find and check all issues after the models are united.
