Missing Dimensions from a dimension string

Hi,

Have had this issue on a few projects and cannot find a fix or a reason that would causes this issue.

When I have a dimension string, Revit will delete one or multiple dimensions from the sting, but not remove the entire dimensions string. See the attached screen shot.

What causes this issue and is there a way to fix this without deleting and redoing he entire string?

Thanks

This is common when you are dimensioning something that is Hidden such as a grid or reference line and if the associated element the witness Line is referencing  is hidden it makes the dimension also hidden.

Try turning on Reveal Hidden Elements (View Control Toolbar > Lightbulb Icon), do you see the missing dimension now?

Another common cause is dimensioning elements in a linked file which are turned off in a later stadium.

Several ways to avoid this. The most obvious one is to check what element gets dimensioned if you create the dimensions. Use TAB if you want it to lock on to another element.

@jay_colcombe I think you are closest to the answer. However when I go searching for the hidden elements I struggle to find them.

I don't have annotation crop selected and no linked elements.

Thanks
