Merging two revit files for the purpose of 3d views (plans) and sheet transfer

We have explored options for merging models/files for the purpose of transferring views/sheets (all plan views of 3d model). We are not concerned with 2d sheets (legends, schedules, diagrams etc). All the replies we have found for merging models and capturing views/sheets seem to work only for 2d views/sheets (legends, schedules, diagrams etc). Is there a way to save weeks of view/sheet set up time by merging models...or is our only option to keep the separate models/files?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you - we found that the linked reply doesn't work for 3d plan views/sheets. Just for 2d so the linked thread doesn't present a solution to my question.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can  help us transfer or merge 3d views/sheets between to models/files.

Only interested in plan views/sheets.

Bill

You want to merge views and sheets, along with the model, from one Revit Project into another. Interesting. I don't think it's possible, but I'll stick around to find out what responses you get.

@Anonymous

You will have to recreate all views and sheets if you merge the other file in.  Plus, if the file has phases then you will likely lose most of the phases when you bind the link.

So, if you can keep them as separate, do it.  Create views with annotation in the file (file 2) normally, link it in file (1).  Create view in file (1), V/G > Revit Links tab > Basic tab > By Linked View or Custom, and pick the view you want to show from Linked view list.  That will show the view with all the annotation intact.
