Merging Split Toposurface

I have a quite large toposurface that I split.  I split this so when working with would work faster when editing.

On the topo that I split....I created a few subregions on it....Now, when I merged the topos back together...the

subregions disappear......How the do keep the subregions on the primary/secondary topos when merging I guess is the question?

Merge order.  Pick the surface with the SubRegions first and then the other surface to merge with.  Unless you mean  both surfaces are hosting SubRegions. In that case, I don't know how to prevent.

Select the sub-regions and copy clip before merging.  Paste aligned after merged the surfaces.
