Menu Drop Down Not Working

Since updating to Revit 2022 I am unable to get into the Annotation Menu under Additional Settings. I need to change the size of the arrow heads but when I hover over the menu it closes before I can click on anything.

Try the following

STEP 1:

  1. Type in windows taskbar search Advanced System Settings
  2. Go to Advanced Tab >> Performance >> Settings (See Image below)
  3. Uncheck the following options
    • Fade or Slide tool tips into View
    • Fade out Menu Items after clicking

STEP 2:

If the issue persists ... Change the Display Settings resolution and Scaling to

  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Scaling: 125%

And work your way up from there to the best resolution/scaling that works for the display/screen you are using for Revit

FWIW: it might be easier to use Transfer Project Standards to carry over settings.

Accepted solution

When you get to Annotations, click it with the left mouse button even though it is already highlighted on screen, then you will have no problem move forward to the submenu to select Arrowheads and others.

You can also create a keyboard shortcut if you want.

This is an incredibly stupid bug.  Sometimes it works.  Then it wont work for a long time.  Using two 4k monitors with 100% (and 150% dpi scaling) both caused the problem.

For me as soon as I slide my mouse out to arrowheads past "Annotations" the whole menu disappears and collapses closed.

Recently ran into this issue as well, I believe Toan's solution was only accepted for the keyboard shortcut work around and not finding a genuine solution to this issue that causes it to stop from happening. For the time being I will also have to do the keyboard shortcut fix as I have also yet to find a solution as restarting Revit and later restarting the entire computer did not fix the issue. RDAOU's step 1 solution also did not solve the issue hence it not being marked as such.

It's quite inconsistent especially since it will randomly work as expected, then any attempt afterward results in what is shown below.

Have the same issue. I've managed to get round it by doing the following. It has to be done in this exact order to work.

-Hover over annotations

-Let the sub menu with arrowheads appear.

-Do NOT try to move your mouse over. Your mouse cursor will remain over Annotations until the end of this sequence.

-Whilst still hovering over Annotations, hit the Tab key. You'll notice the first submenu item gets highlighted. You can hit tab again to cycle to the option you need

-Click Annotations. Nothing will obviously change, but you can now simply hit enter and you'll be taken to the relevant interface.

Good Luck!
