Hello all,
Before I installed the 2017 update I was experiencing graphical bugs and immediate crashes when trying to access any of the material interfaces (manage materials, properties>select material). Now that I have updated everything is fixed except that now my material interfaces are not working at all. Nothing happens when I click on them.
Any ideas?
Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for taking your time to post this on the forum,
I must say this sounds a lot like a permission issue, am I right that not even accessing the material browser from the Manage tab will get it to open?
First thing I would like you to try is simply right clicking the Revit Icon and open it with administrator - it will most likely do the trick.
If it does please let me know and if it doesn't I'll make sure to have a look at it,

Yeah it still does not work. Correction: when selecting material type under properties, i get an 'associate family parameters' box-at least when i am trying to define a material for a custom extrusion-that is empty. When i click on my wall structure for example and go to edit structure, i cant change the cedar clapboard that is there. It is like all materials have been erased or something.
Thank you for getting back to me,
And you have the Material Libraries installed right? You might want to try running a repair on them.
Let me know how things progress,
Cheers,

Okay I figured out the problem. The materials library never got installed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but for some reason the materials library will not download. I have disabled my firewall, I have top notch connection, and have run the installer with several attempts.
Alright that is good news, I would recommend you download and install through the Virtual Agent:
1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product
If you still cannot get it installed afterwards I would suggest you go through these steps below:
Important: It is strongly recommended that you restore the Windows User Account Control (UAC) to display security notifications.
I'm certain it will due the trick, otherwise I will get one of my colleagues from installation and licensing to contact you directly,

Ok I have not tried any of the above steps yet. A few days ago i just tried wiping all revit stuff and reinstalling. Now, Revit thinks I have a normal(non-educational)version, and has started the 30-day trial. What gives? I only downloaded the one offered to me under my account-the student version. I have a final due for my revit class in a week and really need to be able to use this product at home. You guys are killing me.
If I have to disable my computer security and UAC, your product is not working correctly. My user experience from home has been nothing but extremely frustrating. Sure glad that I have not paid you anything.
