When ACIS (.sat) models are imported to Model in-place components in Revit 2024, material textures can be applied in edit mode, but are not visible once edit is closed. Objects imported only appear in the colour they were imported as. Is this a new feature/limitation of Revit 2024? Is there a workaround for this?
Somehow, ACIS models imported to earlier versions of Revit still display materials outside of component edit mode in the current version, but newly imported models in the same component do not.
I'm not looking to render scenes, I just want to add textures that can be viewed in Realistic mode.
Any help is appreciated
I would use OBJ import with the texture map. So far it is probably the easiest way to display texture from another software without having to jump through many hoops just to make it work in Revit. Here is a screenshot of OBJ import city model with texture added to the scene.
OBJ import exist since Revit 2022. You don't need extra plugin to do this.
@syman2000 Thanks for this, and pardon my ignorance on the subject, but the OBJ files seem to come in fine, however there is no ability to even snap to any points or apply materials at all now. I tried it as an import to generic component and as a linked file with no success. Do you have a link to any resources on this subject?
You are correct OBJ don't have the ability to snap and the material is bake in so there is no ability to remap them. This is the shortfall. However I use OBJ as to populate the scene with pre-render element without needing to adjust anything. If you looking for snap and able to swap texture object, I find the DWG 3d Solid tends to work with Revit. Once you explode the DWG 3d solid, it will become native Revit object with ability to snap and change material.
