Material Takeoff schedule_Rooms name

Hello all,

In our project we have made multiple type of walls giving in each of them the finish material that we want.

The purpose is to create a schedule with the surface of each material.  (So I assume that I need to create a Material-Takeoff schedule).

Is it possible to add in this kind of schedule a column with the rooms?

P.S. I know that if I create a Room schedule I can assign the wall/floor ect finish material (in the room properties), but I think it will not work very well in our case as we dont have the same finish material for all the walls of a room.

And also in some cases we want to calculate the surface not only for the finish material but also for the others.

Thank you in advance!

There are few ways you can do this and my recommendation is creating project parameters.

For example, room can have new parameters like "North Wall Finish", "South Wall Finish", "East Wall Finish", "West Wall Finish".... It can be material parameter or text parameter...

Walls can have new project text parameters such as "From: Room" & "To: Room". Then, you need to select every wall and assign values. Material take-off can also read those parameters.

@Ilic.Andrej ,

Thank you for your answer!

I need some clarifications, if it's possible:

'Walls can have new project text parameters such as "From: Room" & "To: Room". Then, you need to select every wall and assign values. Material take-off can also read those parameters.'

1) Some walls belongs to more than two rooms. What are you doing in these cases?

2) I imagine that I need to create instance parameters, right?

'For example, room can have new parameters like "North Wall Finish", "South Wall Finish", "East Wall Finish", "West Wall Finish".... It can be material parameter or text parameter.'

3) As I saw in a Room schedule I cannot calculate the surface of the material , I can just have the name of finish material. So it doesnt work in my case, unless  I miss something.

Thank you!

Create wall instance parameters and in case wall belongs to more than two rooms just split it so that you can assign different values.

You may want to look into Roombook extension.

@barthbradley ,

Thank you for the link.

With this way you just have a schedule with the room and finish material names..Are you capable to calculate the surface of each material ?

Thank you in advance!

To capture the actual finish materials of the walls bounding the room, you ought to look at the Roombook extension from Quantify tab in Revit.
