Hello
so i am in Revit 2021 and our material tags switch to "?"'s when we haven't moved anything or changed anything about the wall. Its only do this to the walls, everything else is fine. In the following link, i see that this has happened before in past versions of Revit:
This link to the forum was a long thread and i cant see if they fixed the issue.
Is there a fix or is this a bug like it has been in the past?
The only thing that makes sense that could be happen is that we have updated linked Revit projects/links but the walls we are tagging aren't in those models.
Any advice?

I run into this issue constantly. This is why I rare use material tag unless I have to do it. One way I overcome this is to convert the wall to parts and use part tag to report the material. This will save you a lot of time and you will not get "?" like you get with material tag.

Parts will not destroy the wall assembly. It is using wall and divide each layer to parts. If you change the wall, the part update. But you can also turn them to show both or don't show the parts. This works well if you are doing wall schedule graphic where you want to tag each material & dimension.
