Hello all,
I would like to create a schedule for the materials that correspond to each room.
Description for the 5 columns that I would like to contain my schedule : Room / Material for floor / material for walls / material for ceiling / height of ceiling
Is it possible? Could you please provide me any workflow?
Thank you in advance!
When you say "Material Schedule", do you want to just 'name' the material for each room (ie what is on the floor, walls, etc)- or do you want/need to calculate the areas / volumes of those materials also.
If it's the first that can be done easily by using Revit "Room" objects in your model. Most of the parameters you need are already assigned to the Room Objects 'out of the box'. But you can create and add additional parameters to the Room Category to store whatever additional info you need to

If you want to report true materials of Room bounding elements then look into the Room Book Extension.
You can create and assign materials to walls, floors, and ceilings. When you create material parameters, associate them with the building component as well as with Rooms. That way they will show up in the Room schedule.
Hello,
I found that in the properties dialog box I need to fill the wall/floor/ceiling finish etc. in order to be able to see the material in the room schedule...
- Is it possible to see all the material layers that I have and not only the finish material? (for example in the floor I have the concrete floor and the tiles).
- In all the floors, walls I have give the materials. But when I create a Floor schedule and assign the categories for the material main and secondary I don't see anything.
Could you please give me a guideline?
Thank you in advance!
Can I have the two materials for the wall finishes in different row? [ see te attachment]
Also if I edit manually the Unbounded Height it is wrong?
Thank you!!
There are two ways to do so -
1) Modify>>Split Face command - split the face, then use Modify>>Paint to apply different materials to each part
2) Create a wall. Select, in Properties Duplicate, rename.
3) Edit Type for the new wall.
Click the Edit button for Structure.
Click Preview.
Change the Preview to Section.
Tab-select to select the layer that you want to split.
Click Split Region.
The cursor will turn into a knife.
Use that to cut the layer as you need it.
@Sahay_R ,
Thank you for your message,
I can see the paint colour in the Wall material take off schedule. (where instead of paint I also created some other membrance layers as I wanted to have more finishes - see 2nd image).
In the Room schedule for the wall finish doesn;t change something as I need to complete manually in the properties the material. (Is it correct? )
Thank you in advance!
Yes. I would create text based instance Shared Parameters for the material, add them to the project associated with Walls. You will be able to add the values that you want in the materials schedule. If the required value is added to the properties of the wall, then also the materials will schedule correctly
