Material Image Link Lost

I have recently (mostly since using Revit 2017) begin to get an issue losing image files from materials which is now escalating out of control to almost every single material even the basic Autodesk concrete materials are losing there image files.

I first noticed it on a few downloaded family materials while using Revit 2016 then when 2017 was released I recreated the company template from scratch and created a bunch of new materials saved in a library for all to access. Everything is save to the server. I then started getting missing images again, I posted on Revitforms.org and got told about the render appearance file paths which I have never had to use before and we had been using Revit since 2012. I then added the file paths to our custom material image locations.

Its now getting even worse issue by losing default Autodesk material images. Its driving me nuts and creating issues for our draughtys here. Can anyone help me figure out what is going on?? The worse part is I cannot find the original images to most our materials so they are completely lost...

Regards,
Bryce

Worth a repair installation. Could be a bad sector on the hard-drive where the library is stored.

Rather than drifting from forum to forum, wouldn’t it be more expeditious to just contact Autodesk, or your reseller, directly to help you resolve this matter? That’s what I’d do.

I have contact Autodesk and resolved the issue. The answer from the technically support is below if anyone has the same issue.

According to your fixed issue the reason of loosing your texture material library could be:

If you used Revit 2015 by using the uninstall tool to remove it as you have done it, it removes all folders and its associated contents.  This link refers to the included readme file (Product Removal Section) for the previous and following information.

It also mentions that if you have other Revit versions installed, as in your case, the Material Libraries should NOT be uninstalled.

For future versions removal please ensure to backup any custom family or template files.

We are on C4R doing a medium sized office interior fit out. All the architects are in the same office working to the same project folder.

I spent hours creating the perfect materials for cloud rendering. Some of the material were created using the Autodesk native images, even these were lost. These materials are project specific and therefore I have created a materials folder inside the project folder and mapped this folder inside Revit’s options rendering tab.

Two weeks later I found almost all the material imagery was lost and had to be remapped.

I then created an .adsklib file relinking all the images and adding them to the file.

Another two weeks later and all imagery was lost again.

Yesterday I noticed all the materials lost the link again. The next test step would be to make sure that all other modelers have also mapped the project specific materials location folder in their options rendering tab to ensure that someone else’s Revit is not destroying the project materials library.

If I’m missing something please help. Linking image maps is not the most fun thing to do in the early hours of the morning.

I have not uninstalled any Revit packages nor any Autodesk products in the past couple of years.
