Material Cut out on Model Not Fully Penetrating

Hi,

I am modelling a staircase to render and I am having trouble with the material cut outs. I made a custom cut out pattern and it works just fine. I modeled the stair guards which will be the cut out part, as model-in-place components. When I apply the cutout to these panels it looks like the railing panel has be come hollow and the cut out is applied to both sides but they are not in line, thus some sections dont have the cut out visibile....I hope that makes sense. (see attached image for clarity)

My question is how could I fix this so that the cutout pattern goes through the whole railing panel as if it was one solid piece?

Thank you!!!

Interesting. Can you post RVT and any associated custom Image Files?

The model is too large to upload. Its a full house model and everything else.

Ill attach the cutout I made. I drew it in AutoCAD then opened it in illustrator and created the .png from there.

As well as another view of the render.

I like it. Reminds me of Player Piano Sheet Music.

You can post just the Stairs. I don't need the whole model.  Know how to do that? Group Stair, then right-click on the group name in the Project Browser and press "Save Group".  You can save it out of Project in its own RVT.
