I need some help.
I am working on a floor plan, and have some families inserted into the model which are furnished with different materials and colors.
For e.g., one of the cabinets has "cherry honey wood Panels" while the sofa has "sofa fabric" with corresponding names.
I try to change the sofa fabric appearance and it changes the cabinet appearance as well. both those materials have different names.
Any idea why this would be happening and how to stop it?
Attaching my revit file here for reference

Sounds like they are sharing the same Asset. Assign a different Asset.
Yep. Your Asset is being shared 8X. In other words, you've got 8 Materials using the same Asset. It not just 2 being affected. It's 8 of them being affected simultaneously.
Thanks for your quick response barthbradley.
I have never done this before. Could you please tell me how to do it?
And also, in future, what do I need to do to not let this happen?
TIA
The first screenshot pretty much says it all. Click on the "Replace this Asset" button, and choose another Asset from the Asset Library, and then click on the Asset's "Replace the current Asset in the editor with this Asset" button.
You can also click on the "Duplicate this Asset" button.
Best way to prevent from happening again, is to make sure you are not using the same Asset as another Material. Look at the hand icon (circled in red in 2nd screenshot). It shows you how many Materials are using the Asset. Just aim for zero in the future.
Nevermind,
I just rechecked the first screenshot.. thanks so much for your help!
