Material Browser Will Not Respond When Uploading Image

Hello Autodesk community,

My material browser works fine when i open it and interact with the pre-loaded materials. However when I try to make custom materials, without fail it will freeze up and not respond when I upload an image under the appearance tab. I have had the same issue in Revit 2016 and Revit 2018. I always get to the same point then it never responds and I ultimately have to shut down the program.

I have tried fixes for similar issues to no avail. All Autodesk updates are installed and my graphics cards are up to date. I have a deadline approaching for a rendering, which is widely useless without custom materials. Any fixes for my Revit programs not being able to get past this point?

So as soon as you browse to and try to load an image file for your custom Material's Appearance, Revit stops responding?  Does it happen all the time?  What kind of Image file?

So the material browser stops responding first. Then when I try to close the material browser or click anything else in Revit, the whole program stops responding. I am trying to upload a .jpg as the image file. And yes I have never gotten it to work on this computer. I have only had the need recently, but it had worked on my old computer back when I was using a student version.

Have you tried Repairing your installation?  Are you sure the Computer meets Revit Specs?

Could you please advise where I can find steps for repairing installation?

I have not looked deep into how my specs stack up- but the model was recommended by our corporate BIM specialist. I will look into the technical side of things

To repair installation, go to the Control Panel and choose Uninstall a Program, click on your Revit version in the list of Programs and then follow the prompts to Repair.   That's it!

I'm still thinking computer doesn't meet specs.  I can't think of another explanation.
