FYI...
This has happened repeatedly as I have accidentally made the heinous mistake of clicking in the text field while assigning Keynotes to Materials. Have to use Task Manager to shut Revit down.
...oops. this one is a different issue than the one in the Link I posted above. In what version of Revit is this happening?
...I'm leaving the Link because the workaround in it might actually work in this case.
Revit 2022
It works perfectly fine when I use the three dots (...). It brings up my Keynote file choices for easy selection. Revit should gray out text fields that aren't meant to be typed in - that's standard everywhere else. Keynotes are designed to make tagging easier, not more complicated. At least I've learned to save before messing with materials!

The issue you are having is not standard. You should be able to populate that field manually. Same thing happens on my 2022. Revit freezes. Report this to Autodesk. Clearly, it's a bug.
FWIW: that workaround I gave in that Link works in this case as well. That is, you can populate that Keynote Value though a Schedule or Tag.
i am having issue while opening the material browser and the asset browser ....it doesn't work and only lags and mouse cursor only moving round and round...processing
Something strange... Our Revit freezes when we click the Mark field. Tested on two different machines & two different projects. I suspect this came the Revit 2023.1.4 update as we just upgraded to that.
Journal Entries are empty, shows me poking around the material browser, but then poof and nothing. Makes sense since I had to end process.
adjusting column width in the asset browser causes Revit to lock-up, you have to use task manager to end Revit.
Definite bug, repeatable.
