Material assets 2017

I am trying to duplicate a material color so I can alter its properties as I would any other item in Revit, yet I am unable to disassociate the original color with the new one.  Whenever I change one color every new piece I create changes to the same color.  According to the Autodesk help page (below) I have to delete the material as an asset, yet this option does not exist for me (see screenshot).

For me, it works in Revit 2017...

• Right click on Material - Duplicate
• Change the name as you want to
• from the up/right corner click on : Duplicates this Asset
• change the color of the new material according with its name...

I can duplicate the material and asset as you have shown, but I need to assign a new color so, according to the link I provided, there should be a big red X for "Remove Asset" which I do not see.  I need to break that link between the original and duplicated items so that the number above the little hand reads 0 (see screenshot).

• Remove Asset acts only for Physical and Thermal , not for Appearance:

Thank you! I was able to figure out what was going on based on your input and playing around with it a little more, the Autodesk instructions had me confused. Still not intuitive on how to do this, but it'll get the job done. Thanks again.
