Material Appearance is too blue!!!

I am new to Revit and have just started working on it. but right from the get-go, the materials appeared too blue. Eg; red brick in the preview icons appear to be of a reddish tinge like it supposed to be, but in plans, elevation or 3d it apears in blue hues. Not only brick but wood flooring, concrete etc, all appear in different shades of blue. Then again rendered images appear with correct colours. I really don't know what's going wrong. Please help!

You control the colour of your model elements by means of the Marterials Editor. Each and every Model Element in Revit is assigned a material. You get to choose how that material is displayed- both golbally and with Overrides in each view. You also get to decide how each material is displayed when it is seen in Elevation and when it is Cut through. You also get to choose how it is displayed when it is rendered versus non-rendered.

I would start by Editing your Wall Type, which will allow you to "Edit Structure"- which will drill down to the layers of your Wall. From here you can click on a Layer's Material and go to the Materials Browser and see how it has been configured to be displayed in different scenarios.

Kind regards,
Ian

Thank you for the reply,

But, my dilemma still persists. as you can see from the attached screenshot, the brick material is designated a reddish colour in the materials library by default but as seen in the background, the same is not reflected in the actual walls. The texture and patterns are correctly shown, it is only this strange blue hue that keeps haunting my drawing at all times (like even the wood flooring is blue that to a sky blue colour, seriously!!!).

please tell me a solution!

So is it resolved as marked or not?

Do you see the blue hue in rendering, shaded, realistic ?

Either -

1) uncheck Use Render Appearance - that will force the red color on to your material

OR

2) go into the Appearance of the material. This would be dictated by a JPG - which you may be able to modify to a limited degree in Revit, or better still, in PhotoShop

I have done that already and the information appears correct, even the preview image in the material library shows the material as its supposed to be (wood in brown and brick in red). yet, after applying the walls, floor, windows, doors etc all appear in a bluish hue. the materials library, preview icons, and minimized images show the materials in their proper colour. It's only the drawing area that has this problem as well as the preview in the "edit type>strusture edit window".

Can you share a view that shows the behavior?

It looks like a graphic card issue.  To confirm, disable hardware acceleration and reopen the file and see what happens.

Hello,

The bluish hue appears in Shaded, Realistic all visual styles.

Also, I tried to uncheck use render appearance and got a black colour filled section instead. Plus, I tried modifying the base jpg image yet no difference.

The problem continues.

Solution required.......

Share a file - without actually seeing the problem we are all just guessing.

Which version of Revit are you in?

2017 - click R>>Options>>Graphics>>uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration

2018 - click File>>Options>>Graphics>>uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration

Glad we pined point what the problem is.  However, disabling hardware acceleration most likely affect the program performance considerably.  I would try to update the video card driver, enable hardware acceleration again see if a newer driver can fix it.

Hi @Anonymous

Glad to hear that your issue is fixed, however, I'm wondering if you have the latest updates for your Revit version installed?

Which graphics card do you have installed?Graphics issues may be addressed by switching to the supported driver.
