Guys, I have a garage door hosting a door panel family.
Matching mother/child dimensional parameter oked.
The child panel has array parameter working ok on itself (QTY Col). 5 columns shown.
I failed to match this parameter to the hosted family (QTY of Col).
Rv first said restricted constraint, after I removed it said can't make family.
Why?
attached R17 family.

Because Qty of Col = 0 in the family type parameter properties. Change it to a positive value (not 0 or 1) then you can associate parameter without any issue.
Hi Toan,
It works like a champ.
I have extra question: as you see, the child family has W1 parameter for the column width. It won't sync with hosted family dimension parameter W1 (just created).
I can say maybe the way I created the column ( extrusion/group) makes it so, or else, or maybe it s impossible to match ?

In the child family:
Currently you place dimension W1 directly to the extrusion. It is not going to flex properly.
You need to create ref planes, place a dimension to the ref planes, associate the dimension to the W1 parameter, then constrain the extrusion to the ref planes.
For simplicity, I would create a column of raised panels as a face based family, nest and host on the door panel, associate parameters, then array it. Arraying a local extrusion while keeping it parametric is more complicated (it works in the attached family but I wouldn't do it if I were to build this family).
Attached is R2022 file. I don't have R2017.
Thanks Toan, it works.
I wonder if the array can work with y/n. I tried, it did not.
