Massing Properties: Creating a form into a solid mass without a pattern

Hello,

I am struggling with trying to make my form shown below a solid form with a thickness. I am not trying to make it like the other one shown below with the pattern appearance. I am only simply trying to make it a solid with like a 50mm thickness to it as steel. Can you please help or show some procedures that I can take to be able to make this work.

Kind regards,

Alex

Finish/close out of Mass Editing Session and apply a Roof or Wall by [Mass] Face to the Mass Form.  That work for you?

BTW: that "pattern appearance" is a "Divided Surface".  FWIW.

Hi "Barthbradley",

That actually did work. Thank you so much for that!! If you can help again relating to this. I am trying to make a cut out along the horizontal face just so that it's an opening, similar to a door. It's for an entrance into the open space. Any tips for me to be able to do that?

Well, if you do a Wall or Roof by Face, that Wall or Roof will host an Opening (Architectural Tab).  Is this what you are after?

Yeah, kind of. Pretty much if you look at the photo below, where I have kind of made that box, I want to put an opening on the divided surface, to allow for an entrance. If you understand what I mean. Sorry, it's really hard to explain over messages like this. I always prefer face-to-face or phone calls.

Pretty cool design.

Are you wanting an rectangular opening like is shown here?  If so, just delete panels.

Thank you for that. It's getting there. Yes, that's exactly what I want it like, but I am wanting it to go all the way down to the floor like a doorway opening. So you said delete each segment? Is that in the modified settings when I select and modify it?

Turn on the Mass Category in the View, select the Mass and press "Edit In-Place" on the Contextual Tab -- and then select and delete Panels. Press "Finish Mass" when done.  Bada Bing.

That's the part that I am currently stuck on. It keeps highlighting the entire element and not single elements, so I can't go through and delete singular panels. I have tried different things so it seems that I am missing something since you could clearly do it xD. I am also confused when you said "Turn on the mass category in the View". Sorry if I am making things hard.

Yeah, I am still stuck on this part. I have been fixing other elements in the interim. When you get the chance tomorrow, hopefully being early tomorrow, can you please help me out with last bit as this is the last bit I need to be able to complete this design for my project.

Oh my god!! It worked! Thank you so much for that! The first step is where I got lost and now that makes total sense. You're an absolute LEGEND!
