Hi all,
The message in the attached screen shot appears to suggest that the visibility of the masses (under Massing&Site Tab) does *not* effect their printing or exporting.
More specifically, it states that in order to print masses, the "Mass" category needs to be ON in the Visibility settings of each view.
However, EVEN WITH THE MASS CATEGORY TURNED OFF in the view, Revit *still* printed the masses.
What's up with that?
Thank you,
Regards
Perhaps that is why they chose to use "might not" instead of "shall not" or "will not".
I am pointing out the exact opposite issue than the message is describing.
I can print masses with the category visibility setting set to OFF, which exposes that message as false.
The button about mass visibility under the "Mass &Site" tab was created for the sole purpose of being able to see and work on masses in the model without worrying about printing (managed instead by the category visibility setting).
This is no longer true (since I can print with the mass visibility setting set to OFF), and this issue should be fixed.
thank you anyways,
regards
gio
I interpret it differently for 2 reasons:
1. Revit is WYSIWYG printing.
2. When you click Show Mass, all mass instances are visible in ALL views, even if mass category visibility is turned off in the view.

Yeah, but not completely. We still have a number of elements (settable in the print setup) which just because show on the screen does not mean will print: Ref planes, scope boxes, view crop lines, etc. We still need good BIM management to successfully predict the look of our prints, and this bug with the masses visibility / printing needs to be fixed, because I remember it used to work as advertised. I am just not sure in what version this feature broke.
2. When you click Show Mass, all mass instances are visible in ALL views, even if mass category visibility is turned off in the view.
This is known, uncontested, and irrelevant to the problem subject of this thread: when the Mass category is OFF, masses still print in the view. This is wrong, accordingly to Revit's own message box and on-line Help, and it should be fixed.
Here is the Autodesk online help on the subject, which is consistent with Revit's message box, but, regrettably, NOT consistent with my latest printing outputs.
Thank you

Maybe I misunderstood. So, you are still printing Masses even though you have selected "Show Mass By View Settings" on the Mass Tab, and unchecked "Mass" Category under the View's Visibility and Graphics? If so, this is not my experience. Using the same settings hides Masses in my view and they do not print.
Hi @gsucci
It's been a while and checking back on this post. This feature seems to work for smaller projects as expected.
Is it possible to share your file to test further?
I can share a private folder to upload.
Looking forward to your reply update.

Hi Viveka,
thank you for your reply.
I cannot share the project yet, but here is a visual of my problem.
Thank you

Hi @gsucci
Thanks for sharing the screencast.
Also, please let me know project size, if you've used CAD links, any third party add-ins etc or any other details we may need for troubleshooting.
We will try to reproduce this issue and follow up with any updates.
Please feel free to check back and send me an alert @Viveka_CD

Encountered this problem too. It took about an hour to solve this one.
Check visual style of view. If it's wireframe, masses (for some reason) won't be visible while printing.
Hi all,
Has anyone solved this problem yet? Turning visual style to wireframe will make CAD link below invisible!
We solved it a long time ago. Where have you been? Did you miss the party? It was glorious!
