Hello
I would like to know why some models from SEEK have masking regions on top of the model.
Is this a standard practice that Autodesk recommends when creating models?
Is there a way to turn them off globally at the project level (.RVT) as opposed to turning them off in the family (.rfa) level
Thanks
John
John, In Revit not all the 3D geometries inside the families appears in plan the rightway you expect! so you need to draw lines and 2D elements to satisfy a good graphics of the family in plan, section and elevation in which you'll prompt the family not to show the 3D in these views and hence it will show for example a floor pattern in a finishing layout and this isn't correct, that's why we are using masking regions there!
You can use a visibility parameter for sure if this parameter is shiped and created within the family.
Thanks, Ibrahem Naeem
Masking region , sometimes, combined with a symbolic lines drawing, applied "on top of a 3d Model" is an instrument to simplify the image especialy for a a plan view ( could also be used for elevation or section views )'
A 2d image replaces the 3d top view that usualy contains a lot of generating curves as , for example are the top view of an armchair, sofa or a plumbing fixture with round shapes. Visibility settings controls what is shown in every View Specific Display:

Thanks Constantin but can this be achieved at the project level.
I rather not edit the family.
Can I make a custom filter at the project level to turn them off in Visual Graphics.
Thanks
John
