Guys, for Reno proj we do plumbing ourselves. For the last two years cities in usa do plancheck online and we found multi color plumbing lines helps a lot with clarity (yes, we don't care how it look on blueprint, no complaints from plumbers yet).
So far so good. For the shake of insanity, however, I wd like to include a small masking region to break the lines when they cross each other, see attached.
The family is line base, plumbing fitting category, the masking region is not even masking anything inside the family. In project, of course it s done nothing to the effect.
Why, anyone ?
It is not so very clear what are you trying to mask and where (project vs family) but try a generic annotation with a white filled region

Is MR's Draw in Foreground checked?
About Masking Regions in Model Families | Revit 2021 | Autodesk Knowledge Network
Draw in foreground is not the answer, whichever combinations, on the line or on the masking, or both.
I made a quick turn around, it only makes drawing more crowded, attached.
Revit will make those breaks for you if you use MEP hidden lines. Use something larger than 0" for the gap settings.
Are you using the system wiring or a line based family?!
