How do you map or push multiple Shared Parameters to Categories in Revit? And not via the Project Parameter approach. Is there not a way to push multiple Shared Parameters to an entire Revit Category? Is this intended to happen via a Template File (.rte)?
I have a have a very detailed/robust Shared Parameter file. I have a roughly 30% Revit Architecture Project with an array of common building elements established in the model. I'm pointing to the Shared Parameter file within the Revit Project (Manage\Shared Parameters).
When I select an element in the Model (i.e., a Room) only some of the expected (Room related) Shared Parameters (from the detailed Shared Parameter file) show up under the Room properties. I know I can add a Shared Parameter to Room by going to Project Parameters, selecting the Shared Parameter, Modify, then select the Revit Category that I want to apply that Shared Parameter to.
Is there not a way to push multiple Shared Parameters to an entire Revit Category - including system families? Is this intended to happen via a Template File (.rte)?
Not sure I understand. There's no "live link" maintained between the Shared Parameter Text File and the Parameter that uses it once it's created. Is that the crux of your question?
@barthbradley, thanks for reply.
Disclaimer...I'm digging deeper into Shared Parameters than I have before, so some things are still new.
I understand the disconnected (stand alone) nature of the Shared Parameter file - I guess my request is related more to a "one time Push" of say...10 Shared Parameters into a single Revit Category (Rooms) in a Project.
After this "Push" that I'm thinking of, I could click on any Room in the project I would see all 10 of the Shared Parameters I want associated to the Room Category.
I know I can "manually" do this by assigning a single Shared Parameter to a Category via the Project Parameter function under Manage.
If you already have them in a template or another project then Transfer Project Standards > Project Parameters.
They are not in the Template File. So, if I understand the process, the manual labor still needs to be done - it is just a matter of where I do it. In the Template file or the Project...right?

You manually do it once. From that point on, you either inherit them via staring a project using the template, or pushing them to a project via Transfer Project Standards. Of course, if you wish to not doing the 'once' , you will need Add-ins or Dynamo.
You can use Dynamo...have them sorted in a txt delimited or excel file and push all at once to all categories
