I have a family with a nested generic annotation. It shows up correctly in plan but its showing up on every floor and not just the main floor like I need it to do. Is there a way I can go into VG Overrides and turn it off in the views I dont need it?
Hi @tommy.adams6R4JL ,
Set the Generic Annotation's instance visibility setting to "Show only if instance is cut", so it will only be visible if the family is cut in floorplan.
If this option is grey'd out, follow the steps below to enable it:
- 1. Create a new family and set it's Family category to Windows (or Doors)
- 2. Place the Generic annotation family in it
- 3. Check the "Show only if instance is cut" of the placed Generic annotation
- 4. Change the family of (1) to the category desired.
- 5. The "Show only if instance is cut" check should remain checked but is grey'd out.
- 6. Copy and paste the Generic Annotation in you're own family, and delete the old placed generic annotation.
Note, for some categories this won't work as they are not cuttable, for these the Generic annotation will be reset.
For these use a Shared nested family with the generic annotation it them, additional bonus for this is; now the label can also be filtered out by viewfilter(s) and turned off.
Additional: if the Family is to low to be cut by the floorplan, add a invisible vertical modelline so the family will be cut by a floorplan cut height. Maybe even lock it to a height parameter.

The reason you see it on the other floors could be in the family but it also could be the model.
