Making architectural plans and sections like atelier Bow-Wow

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if Revit was able to create sections like this example:

Every couple of year I see this same question (from different persons) with the same images attached and the answer is still "Nope, it cannot". Not even  something which I would call close to that...The closest you can get to that is by using a camera and section boxes but I wouldn't say the perspective itself is as appealing as the ones from BOW WOW. Moreover, Camera views do not allow annotations, so you would need to do that on a separate detail view and overlay on a sheet. In comparison with other application, I would say in Revit the process is quite cumbersome.

The visual output of different software tend to vary and what one software is capable of the other isn't . But considering the interoperability between various apps nowadays, especially with respect to 3D perspectives and rendering, such option became less essential. For me, if this is for an assessment on whether to adopt Revit as the main BIM authoring application, the creation of such views would not be a criteria. But if the creation of such presentations are the most essential aspect which one is after, then Revit is not the software for that.

Use section box and camera / perspective view. How good it ends up looking depends on your families catalogue and how much time you want to waste on it.
