Make family rotate in 3 axis

Dear forum users,

I have made some generic model family's and we need to rotate theme in all 3 axis. Unfortunately we can only change it in one direction. Revit doesn't allow us to rotate the family in the Z axis. It shows you how it looks when we rotate it in the Z axis but when you let go at the right position we get an error (Can't rotate element into this position.).

When we open the family that is an imported 3D dwg then we can rotate in all directions but not when we make it a family. We have tried different options but none works. We can't make like 50 families in different angles, that makes no sense. Anyone got an solution?

I already googled for answers but only found loads of other complaining but no solutions other than change software. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Jan

You need to nest element three deep to accomplish; hosting element at each level to a Ref. Line that rotates in a different direction (e.g. x and y, and z).

Create the family workplane based or face based, do not set Always vertical. Then host it on a reference plane in project. You can rotate the family on the reference plan (one axis), rotate the reference plane (two more axis). You have three now.

Using the align command in one of the elevation views works.
